NFL Football in Maryland
For football fans, there are two places to catch an NFL game: M&T Bank Stadium hosts the Baltimore Ravens and their legions of purple-clad fans, while Washington, D.C. fans can see their team play in red and gold glory at the Commanders Field in Landover. College fans can enjoy the Big 10 action with the Maryland Terrapins, root for the Midshipmen of the Naval Academy, or cheer on the perennial Colonial Athletic League powerhouse Towson Tigers.
Baseball Paradise: From the Baltimore Orioles to Great Minor League Teams
Baseball fans can watch the Major League Baseball Baltimore Orioles play at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, considered by many the best ballpark in the bigs, or cheer on one of the state’s five minor league teams: the Aberdeen Ironbirds, the Chesapeake Baysox, the Frederick Keys, Salisbury’s Delmarva Shorebirds, Waldorf’s Southern Maryland Blue Crabs or Hagerstown Flying Boxcars.
Horse Racing at Pimlico Race Course, Laurel Park and More
Horse racing enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Preakness Stakes, the second jewel of the storied Triple Crown. The Preakness has been held at Baltimore’s Pimlico Race Course each May since 1873. The Jim McKay Maryland Million Day, held annually each October at Laurel Park, brings together the best Maryland-sired Thoroughbreds with a big payday on the line. Bring the kids to the “Kid’s Korral” and enjoy on-track entertainment between races. Both tracks host races throughout the season as well as near-daily simulcasts. Finally, steeplechase enthusiasts can take in a race at one of the numerous cup events held around the state each spring, including Maryland Hunt Cup, held in April at Worthington Valley.
Live Your Hoop Dreams
Enjoy the thrilling Big Ten action of Maryland Terrapins basketball. Marvel at the high flying action of the men's team, or catch a Maryland Women's basketball game, assuming they’re not off bringing home another NCAA title. Navy, Loyola, Coppin, Towson and Morgan State also bring top notch Division 1 hoops to the hardwood.
Lacrosse, Soccer and Other Sports
