Flag Waves Over Fort McHenry
Tim Ervin

There’s only one place that can claim the title as “birthplace of the Star-Spangled Banner”—and that’s Maryland! Go behind the music (well, it was actually a poem) and see the spot where there were “bombs bursting in air.” Of course, you’ll also find historical re- enactments, artillery demonstrations and fort-fun galore. Open yourself to everything—we go big for our Banner!

"Mary Pickersgill, a well-known flagmaker, created the largest garrison flag ever flown at Fort McHenry.  At 30' by 42,'  Francis Scott Key was inspired by it from afar on September 14, 1814."
