Chesapeake Beach
Always something to do and an easy adventure from Baltimore and D.C.
Built as a railway resort town, Chesapeake Beach is unique along the bay, as it was born as a recreational destination.
Waterslides, a lazy river, a splash pool, and more, all just a stone’s throw from the Chesapeake’s shore? Oh yeah, it’s a great destination. Rent a cabana for the day and relax as the kids make the most of this aquatic adventure-land.
Spanning nearly two miles, the Chesapeake Beach Railway Trail is an easy, accessible hike or bike trip. The trail features educational gardens, osprey platforms sure to delight birders, and exhibits along the trail highlighting the history and ecology of the area.
Built in 1898 as the rail depot that connected the Chesapeake Beach Resort to Washington, D.C., this charming museum transports visitors back through the history of this unique railway. Climb aboard historic trains, witness the construction of the old railway, and all just steps from the waters of the Chesapeake Bay.
Free to visit by appointment, this amazing little museum and gallery focuses on the history and incredible art of surfing. The waves may not be so big on bayside Chesapeake Beach, but this museum is totally tubular!
