This exhibit honors Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, one of the foremost leaders in the struggle for equal rights under the law. The exhibit, on Concourse C at BWI airport, features a timeline of Marshall’s life and highlights his accomplishments, including his appointment to the Supreme Court in 1967 as the first African American on the bench. The exhibit also includes a bust of Marshall by artist Toby Mendez.

The Nanticoke is a wonderful river for recreation, education, nature study, and simple solitude. Home to a large population of free and enslaved Blacks, and sympathetic whites, Underground Railroad support grew in Maryland in the years leading to emancipation. The farm, now part of Monocacy National Battlefield, was once part of a 748-acre plantation known as L'Hermitage. Established by the Vincendieres, a family of French planters from the Caribbean, 50 to 90 enslaved African-Americans worked this plantation in the 18th and 19th centuries.
