The first monument to Washington in the United States. Begun in 1815, and 178’ 8” tall, the marble column forms the centerpiece of the four park squares of Mount Vernon Place, a National Historic Landmark District.
Monument: Thur, 5-9pm; Fri, 12N-4pm; Sat-Sun, 10am-5pm; Park Squares: Daily, dawn-dusk.

There wasn’t a lot of parking near by, so probably parking illegally, made this a short trip. Didn’t go inside the monument but there are a few parks right near by to walk as well with multiple...
