BALTIMORE, MD (January 27, 2026) – National Plan for Vacation Day is January 27, and it is the perfect time to plan your Maryland vacation. The Maryland Department of Commerce’s Office of Tourism has easy to use tools to help travelers discover the state’s many attractions, scenic byways, outdoor recreational opportunities, and historical sites. For 2026, information on Maryland’s plans to celebrate America’s 250 anniversary year is included.

  • Destination Maryland Magazine, a 120-page full-color magazine features ideas for seasonal travel, in-depth  guides for road trips on our Scenic Byways, Matchless Maryland travel suggestions, inspiration for experiencing our land and water trails, plus ways to enjoy our state while here on business travel. 

    The 2026 Destination Maryland Magazine is more interactive than ever with scannable QR codes throughout that dynamically link to enhanced content on our Visit Maryland website.  Readers will also discover an illustrated Maryland state map, which whimsically captures various landmarks and attractions around the state (pages 8 & 9); a new “Maryland Glossary” that illustrates our “Only in Maryland” items and experiences that make our state so special – from snowballs and Smith Island Cakes to skipjacks and rockfish (pages 10 & 11); a “scavenger hunt-style” guide to our 23 Maryland lighthouses (pages 60-62); a fun Maryland crossword puzzle that draws clues from throughout the guide (page 89).
     
  • Maryland’s social media platforms are a timely way to learn more about unique destinations, anniversaries, special events, Maryland culinary specialties (including our craft spirits) and connect users with other Maryland travel fans.   • Maryland Welcome Centers, conveniently located along major highways throughout each region of the state, offer a wide array of printed brochures and guides produced by the state, county/city tourism offices, and local tourism business.
