I had never heard of this, but the AT passed right by and so we stopped, read the signs, and climbed inside the tower. It's a really interesting bit of history.

We were there on a very cold day, so we didn't explore as much as we might have liked, but we did climb to the top of the monument and enjoyed the view a great deal. We'd like to go back in better...
