The first monument to Washington in the United States. Begun in 1815, and 178’ 8” tall, the marble column forms the centerpiece of the four park squares of Mount Vernon Place, a National Historic Landmark District.
Monument: Thur, 5-9pm; Fri, 12N-4pm; Sat-Sun, 10am-5pm; Park Squares: Daily, dawn-dusk.

Before visiting Baltimore, I didn't know that a Washington Memorial was erected long before the one in Washington DC on the mall. This structure and grounds are impeccably maintained. A must-see if...
