Western Maryland Rail Trail
Description
Newly extended by four miles! Twenty-eight mile-long trail runs from Big Pool along the Potomac River and the C&O Canal Towpath, past Sideling Hill, to Little Orleans. Paved trail popular for cycling, in-line skating and walking. The WMRT begins one-half mile west of historic Fort Frederick State Park in Big Pool; from there, the trail system winds through rolling farmland, woodlands and rural towns.

We did this entire trail over 2 days. Starting at Big Pool we rode to Hancock on the first day and back, about 20 ish miles total. There are some unexpected bumps in the trail due to tree roots...
