Lotte FWonderfully quiet place
Close to DC but a world apart. Great hikes (some easy on dirt roads,others narrow,rarely used paths) through varied landscapes. I only wish the old dump site along the otherwise beautiful Mounds...

Glenn WWonderful bike ride
I often bike from the house to the Merkle Wildlife Sanctuary, 7 miles. It's an excellent viewing spot for migratory birds. They have an excellent wildlife center, geared toward students.
