Guest of the Nation: Lafayette Returns to America, 1824-1825

The Marquis de Lafayette played a pivotal role in the American War for Independence. In 1824, President James Monroe invited Lafayette back to the United States to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Revolutionary War and to reignite patriotism.
