A Capital Christmas
Our Nation's Capital is spectacular during the holidays!
Arrive at Hillwood Mansion and Gardens decorated for Christmas, which features one of the most comprehensive collections of 18th and 19th-century Russian Imperial art outside of Russia. Continue with ICE!, a life-size winter wonderland sculpted in ice at the Gaylord National Harbor Resort. Later, check in to a suburban Maryland hotel and freshen up before dinner at McCormick & Schmick’s at National Harbor. This evening, you’ll drive through the spectacular Festival of Lights in Watkins Regional Park before returning to the hotel for the night.
Depart with your guide, stopping for a photo opportunity of the White House and visiting the poinsettias displayed at the United States Botanical Gardens. After lunch, there will be free time to browse the shops at National Harbor. Spend time at the Pageant of Peace across from the White House and see the National Christmas Tree. A warm traditional family-style dinner is included in the trendy Penn Quarter neighborhood of Washington, D.C. After dinner see the classic holiday favorite, "A Christmas Carol" at historic Ford’s Theatre.
Depart with guide for a tour of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, the largest Roman Catholic Church in the U.S. Enjoy a visit to the museums of the Smithsonian Institution on the National Mall. Drive along Embassy Row and tour Washington National Cathedral, the largest church in the U.S. Stop at the new Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial and drive by the National World War II Memorial. Enjoy dinner in a trendy Georgetown waterfront restaurant. This evening you’ll head for Kensington, MD to visit the Washington DC’s Temple Visitor’s Center’s Festival of Lights and see their holiday music program.
After breakfast and checking out, depart for Christmas at Mount Vernon and lunch at the Mount Vernon Inn before heading home.
