From seed to shuck, the Hoopers Island Oyster Co. raises premium oysters including their signature “Chesapeake Golds” and “Mermaid Kisses” for wholesalers, restaurants and individual consumers. Bay Hunters is ready to show you the best fishing the Bay has to offer. They’ve got all the fishing seasons covered from trophy rockfish to Spot, Flounder, Sea Trout, Spanish Mackerel, Red Drum and more. A recognized Chesapeake Bay Storyteller, trained by the Maryland Office of Tourism.
The lighthouse houses a museum and is built in the “screwpile” style characteristic of the Chesapeake Bay. From this location, view the Choptank River, which was used as an escape route for several freedom seekers on the Underground Railroad. Others who assisted them were captured and transported on this river to the Dorchester County Courthouse and Jail. A National Park Service Network to Freedom site.
