In 1877, Louisa and William Bruff (Frederick Douglass’s former master Thomas Auld's daughter and son-in-law) greeted Douglass at the front door of this home. Douglass wanted reconciliation with Thomas Auld. The two men had an agreeable visit and made amends. Today the building is the Dr. Dodson Bed and Breakfast.
