Site of July 9, 1864 Civil War battle dubbed "The Battle that Saved Washington." Confederate Gen. Jubal A. Early defeated Union forces commanded by Gen. Lew Wallace who later wrote Ben Hur.

Daily, 9am-5pm; closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's.

If you have been to Fredericksburg, Antietam or Gettysburg, Monocacy may not meet you expectations. The Visitor Center is very well done and the rangers there were helpful and informative...
