  • Brunswick Veterans Day Parade
    Pay tribute to our veterans and active military at one of the oldest Veterans Day parades in the nation. Opening ceremonies at 1pm; Parade at 2pm.
  • Salute to Veterans Parade, La Plata
    Join us to honor the men and women of the US Armed Forces. The Salute to Veterans Parade starts at 1PM at the Courthouse on Charles Street in La Plata. Bring the kids, and come enjoy an old-fashioned, hometown parade!

Maryland State Parks are Free for all Veterans

Year-round Recreational Programs
Active-duty military and all veterans (both resident and non-resident) enjoy free entry to parks managed by the state of Maryland, including Assateague State Park on the Eastern Shore, Deep Creek Lake Park in Western Maryland and Sandy Point State Park in Anne Arundel County. More info....

Wounded Warrior and Veteran Outreach Program  provides our servicemen and women with unique opportunities in Maryland state parks.

Fishing, Hunting and Hiking

Fishing and Hunting Programs for Military Veterans, Members and POW's are available with the help of a number of non-profit organizations such as the Greenwell Foundation, the Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating and many others, including those listed below.

Operation Campout! is a partnership between the parks and The North Face:  Explore Your Parks program which loans out camping gear to military families at selected State Parks.

Warrior Hike - "Walk off the War" - is an outdoor therapy program for transitioning veterans.  Reconnect by hiking America's National Scenic Trails, including Maryland's Appalachian Trail.  Equipment and supplies are provided along with other support along the way.

Bass Tournament - Paralyzed Veterans of America National PVA Bass Tournament, a B.A.S.S. sanctioned event is hosted at Smallwood State Park in Marbury, Maryland.

Add Your Veterans Status to Your Driver's License or ID Card

The Maryland Department of Transportation's Motor Vehicle Administration now offers veterans the opportunity to add the "Veteran" designation to the front of their Maryland's Drivers' License or identification card.  This designation indicates that you are eligible for state veteran benefits.  Details on how to make the update can be found here.
