Pet-Friendly Outdoor Attractions and Events
Maryland is a doggone pet-friendly state with numerous activities to experience with your beloved four-legged family member.
When you really want to treat your dog to something special, or hang out with other dog owners who love their pooch as much as you do, there’s no better place to take Fido than to a furry, family-fun outdoor event. Here’s a list of some favorite competitions, parades, and festivals that your dog will just drool over. Best of all, every one of these events benefit local animal shelters.
This year the fashion show featuring “Softies,” animal-loving professional athletes, entertainers and activists, won't strut their stuff on the runway “modeling” a range of adorable and adoptable dogs and cats in need of a home from BARCS. Instead, see them modeling with their pals from BARCS on the website. They are hoping you'll be moved to make an on-line donation. Who can resist these "Softies" with their "Softies?"
The SPCA of Anne Arundel County hosts its annual Walk for the Animals at Quiet Waters Park's measured courses during the spring. Enjoy the walk and outdoor festival.
These annual events provide your pooch a chance to run free in one of our off-leash areas, test and sharpen his or her skills on the agility course and make new fur-friends. Bark in the Park provides wonderful opportunities for families to adopt a dog, learn different training methods, sample dog related products, and visit exhibit booths. Dog owners must bring a collar, leash, and proof of rabies vaccination for entry. Limit two dogs per owner. Stay tuned for details.
ACAS’s Beer, Wine and Music festival will be a day filled with great wine and craft beer, music, food, and raffles as well as craft and artisan vendors. Woof-Stock benefits homeless pets at the Allegany County Animal Shelter.
Join the Annual Paws & Claws 5K Run / 1 Mile Walk at Baker Park in June. Bring family and friends and help the animals. Route goes through beautiful, historic Frederick. Benefits the Animal Welfare League of Frederick County.

Get your paws wet and hop aboard Watermark's Harbor Queen for a special "dog friendly cruise" benefitting the Anne Arundel County SPCA. Friendly on leash dogs welcome. And dogs cruise free! Enjoy a buffet donated by Graul's Market, plus music, silent auction, cash bar and even refreshments for Fido. The top deck of Harbor Queen will feature doggie pools so "hot dogs" can cool off!
