City of College Park Tribute to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., College Park

The City's annual event honors Dr. King's legacy through a keynote address, performances, art, and a City proclamation. Every year a new theme is selected, showcasing how his work still impacts our community and our country, and what we can do to continue his efforts in our current era. This year's theme is "Is His Dream Your Dream Too?."

Maryland State Education Association's 35th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration.  This year’s theme is “African and Latino American Experiences of Everyday People.”  The theme will feature student performances and keynote address by Dr. Ivory Toldson. Dr. Toldson will speak about his new book, No BS (Bad Stats): Black People Need People Who Believe in Black People Enough Not to Believe Every Bad Thing They Hear about Black People. There will be books for sale at the event.

Enjoy an Urban Theatrical Presentation and Talkback session of the Voices of Carmen, examining escalating conflicts among young people. The Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts (BOPA) is proud to present the 20th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade alongside the City of Baltimore. The parade commemorates the life of civil rights leader and icon Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 20, 2020 starting at noon. Spectators are welcome to view the parade along the route on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard between Eutaw Street and Baltimore Street.

Celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the 16th Annual Southern Maryland Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast  at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. The breakfast will begin at 6:30am and costs $10 payable at the door. The program will begin at 8am at no cost, featuring a keynote address by Dr. Jason Johnson. Following the program, beginning at 10am the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®, Nu Zeta Omega Chapter will host a Day of Service, providing services and activities for students of all ages and adults.
