This is not the original house, but a re-creation of part of the house, as the original washed away in a flood. It's a pretty good remake, and used parts of the original house like the floor boards...

The home looks like it's for sale. But it is a nice older home. Right on the canal. It looks fairly well kept. But again it is not at old as some of the other local historic homes. Worth a drive by.

The house is a re-creation and the story is from the Whittier poem but unsubstantiated and probably false, as even the sign boards admit. So why is it still given prominence? Cheapens history
