Management and Leadership We use the following best management practices: Environment Policy Statement Environmental Team: Staff is fully trained on LEED aspects and management team makes GREEN a part of every meeting. Set Annual Goals: We use Hilton's LightStay program which tracks annual progress in water, energy, and waste and sets incremental goals to improve. We have a purchasing policy to encourage the purchase of environmentally-friendly products and services List of our environmentally friendly products and services: LEED was the driver for much of this as we definitely purchase all equipment and materials to be as environmentally-friendly as possible. Appliances, paper products, vendor contracts, food, carpetting, flooring, all countertops, all building materials. Heating and Cooling Have a high efficiency heating and air-conditioning HVAC system Have programmable thermostats for each room and ensure they are properly adjusted Have ENERGY STAR rated windows and doors Have installed additional insulation Energy Efficiency: ENERGY STAR computers, appliances, office equipments etc. Have thermal-rated windows and insulation Our Innovative Ideas and Specifics in Energy Conservation and Efficiency The saline pool has a automatic cover which greatly reduces energy loss! Linen Service and Laundry: We use these best management practices: Provide optional linen service - Change linens only upon request Train staff on the process for optional linen service Have signage in each room explaining the linen reuse procedures Have water- and energy-efficient washers and dryers Use non-phosphate, non-toxic and biodegradable laundry detergents Minimize the use of bleach and chlorinated chemicals Use linen service providers that employ wet versus dry cleaning Our Innovative Ideas and Specifics for Laundry and Linen Service: Only clean sheets and towels every 5 days. EnergyStar washers and dryers provid for guests. Central laundry is ultra-efficient. Minimize Disposable Food Service Items We use the following best management practices: Use disposable foodservice items made from bio-based, renewable materials (corn, bamboo, etc.) Use disposable foodservice items made with recycled content Other Green Practices Transportation: We use the following best management practices: Minimize the Comute of our Employees-We provide bike racks and an employee shower in locker room to promote biking. Addressing Efficient Business Travel-Although there is no convenient mass transit service, the building was designed ot accommodate. Increasing the Fuel Efficiency of our Fleet-Although there is no convenient mass transit service, the building was designed ot accommodate. For guests: Educate guests on the availability of mass transit Offer shuttle service to/from mass transit locations Green Building: Our building is LEED certified: We are under evalualtion for LEED rating:Silver Sustainable Building Materials:65%+ of all materials used for counters, wood, and flooring/carpeting were from post-consumer materials. Our Innovative Ideas and Specifics regarding our Green Building techniques: The pool is saline and all roof coatings are white to promote decreased "heat island" effect. Measurable Results The building just opened a few months ago, but it was designed to use 32% less energy than a conventionally designed facility. We will monitor energy, water, and waste generation thru our LightStay program and report on progress annually.
