Measurable Results
Using the standards provided by the AHLA Green Guide: (1) By replacing all incandescent lights with CFL’s in all 706 rooms, we have reduced energy consumption by approximately 335,000 kWHs/year with an estimated energy savings of $40,000. (2) By installing low-flow showerheads and restrictors in all rooms, we are saving at least 2.5 million gallons of water each year and more than $80,000/year in reduced water and energy bills (for heating the water). (3) Through our "Make a Green Choice" program, our optional linen service that provides incentives for guests to opt our of room service, for our 706 room hotel, we are reducing water usage by at least 100,000 gals/year, reducing detergent use by at least 750 gallons/year and saving at least $35,000/year on reduced water, detergent, and labor costs.
