 | Environment Policy Statement | | Environmental Team: John Luff, Eco Leader; Ryan Creasy, Green Team Maintenance; Phil Weigel, Green Team Maintenance. Our team meets 1-2 times per week and discuss new and innovative ways to conserve energy, reduce waste, and preserve the environment. A quarterly meeting is held to discuss large projects and purchases for the near future. | | Set Annual Goals: Once per month we review all of our electric usage, water consumption, waste output, and supply use. With this information we analyze and determine where we can invest our time and money to make the most dramatic impact overall. One of our core beliefs is that we can become Better Every Day. On a weekly basis we strive to have three measurable goals completed towards a greener hotel. Examples: 1) 3 guest rooms converted to all CFL's, 2) Public Restrooms upgraded with low-flow fixtures, 3) Outdoor solar lights installed | | We have a purchasing policy to encourage the purchase of environmentally-friendly products and services | | List of our environmentally friendly products and services: All of our cleaning products are a Green line of products produced by Holt and Clorox. We utilize biodegradable and earth friendly products which also have the added benefit of being healthier for our guests. All Purpose Cleaner, Oxy-Degreaser, Bathroom Cleaner, Toilet Bowel Cleaner, Glass Cleaner, Shampoos, Soaps, Conditioners, Lotions, Laundry Detergents, and stain removers are premium eco-friendly products. | | Environmental Restoration or Community Environmental Projects: The Atlantic Oceanfront Inn is a proud supporter of the Surfrider Foundation which is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves, and beaches for all people. The organization was founded upon the principles of conservation, activism, research, and education. | | Independently Audited Environmental Management System: Responsible care and Better Every Day system. We are constantly evaluating, analyzing, and maintaining an energy efficient hotel. In order to do this we have check-lists in place for monitoring our key systems to continuously perform at optimal levels. |
