bulletEnvironmental Team: The Green Team includes a representative from each department and elects a Green Champion from within the team. The team meets bi-monthly and assists the hotel with communicating all new initiatives, coaching & training other associates, collecting best practices & reviewing results of current practices.
bulletSet Annual Goals: As a LEED certified building, the hotel has a living process to monitor, assess and continuously improve all areas of sustainability, including energy, water, indoor air quality, materials & resources, as well as innovations.
bulletWe have a purchasing policy to encourage the purchase of environmentally-friendly products and services
bulletList of our environmentally friendly products and services: Some examples of our products & services are: Green cleaning products for housekeeping. Front desk uniforms are made from 100% recycled plastic bottles, each uniform saves 25 2 liter plastic bottles from the landfill. All paper goods are compostable in breakfast area. Green room keys for all guests. Dispensers in bath using natural body care amenities replace individual bottles. All light bulbs are CFLs or low mercury. Earth friendly towels. Office supplies are all from recycled, post consumer waste materials. Local foods are served during breakfast, ie. Zeke's coffee and Michele's Granola. The pest control vendor uses only green or least toxic chemicals. The grounds maintenance staff uses organic and alternative means to keep the grounds healthy.
bulletEnvironmental Restoration or Community Environmental Projects: Associates volunteer with Maryland Food Bank. Presentations are given to local schools on green buildings & living. The hotel offers a 'Green Your Stay' program which allows guests to assist in preserving the Amazon rain forest.
