Late check-ins not efficient

My husband and I and our two children had been traveling for several hours from the Outer Banks and decided to stop at this hotel to spend the night before continuing our trip home to Pennsylvania. Although it was 11 PM when we stopped, we did not get settled into a room until almost 12:30 AM! First, we were sent to a room on the 5th floor. The TV did not work. When we called the hotel desk, they asked us to come down for keys to another room. We had our luggage on a cart and ended up moving down the hall a few rooms. The same thing happened and the TV did not work in that room either. Again, we called the hotel desk and they asked us to come down for keys to ANOTHER room. This time the room was on the 4th floor. We had difficulty getting the cart back down the hall and discovered that one of the wheels was flat! We finally dragged the cart into the elevator and finally got into a room. That room was fine except that we did not have towels for 4 people. The bed pillows were not comfortable at all. Even though it was 11 PM at night, there were several other people checking in at the time and the lobby was quite active. When we checked out on Sunday morning, we asked the person at the desk if we could see the manager about the problems we had. We were told that we would have to call the next day because there was no manager on site. Apparently, the hotel is not sufficiently staffed on weekends to accommodate people without prior reservations, and it was a disappointment since we are Rewards members.
Beware of the noise

You can hear and understand the conversation in the next room, just saying. Also the fitness room opens at 6AM the treadmill woke me up before 6 even though it was two floors down. The front drop off area is in poor condition with a curb in front of the front door.

This hotel was an OK hotel. The room was clean, which is the most important factor. The breakfast was pretty good. Be careful when you check out if you haven't used the safe. There is a $1.50 charge for use of safe and you have to indicate at check out that you didn't use the safe or you'll be charged. It's in the small print. Pretty cheezy I think.

We recently traveled to DC for a family vacation. The location of the Best Western was great because of the shuttle taking you to the metro and also picking you back up. I would like to see more food offered at the restaurant and maybe queen size beds, The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend anyone to stay here.

Quality and service of this hotel was overall very good. Very reasonable cost for the three days we spent there sightseeing in DC and Virginia. And it was nice to have a shuttle to the Metro stop. We were a little disappointed that the restaurant was not open on Sunday evening. The last thing we felt like doing was leaving the hotel after a long day of sightseeing. But the refrigerated food offered by the registration desk was sufficient.
