Bethesda Court Hotel Stay for NIH
Apr 24, 2015 by: Gregory T from Grand Rapids, Michigan
My family often has to go to the National Institutes for research. Bethesda Court Hotel is convenient and is a stop on the NIH shuttle. Close (as in across the street or a couple of blocks' walk) to many restaurants, and stores to pick up travel essentials are close by. Many of the landmarks and museums in Washington are easy to get to on the Metro, which is only a couple of blocks away. It's in the middle of Bethesda, but has a very nice courtyard perfect for going outside in the evening and still being away from traffic. Desk staff is very friendly; Paula was especially pleasant and helpful in making further reservations. Rooms are nice with a fridge and microwave in room. Rooms near Wisconsin Ave (near front of hotel) can be a bit noisier if there is a lot of traffic or sirens. Still, a nice place to stay. We have stayed many times and already have reservations for our next visit.

We wanted to introduce our boys to DC, but the hotel costs in the area were inhibitive. We found this hotel and decided we could swing the costs and it was well located to the metro and tons of restaurants. My wife's only complaint would be the weird smell upon entry into the room (which you don't even notice after you are in the room any amount of time). We would stay here again however
Great location, friendly staff

Nice, affordable place to stay. Metro within walking distance, CVS, and good restaurants. Light breakfast included: muffins, bagels, cereal, yogurt, etc. Many, if not all of the rooms have been renovated. There is a small refrigerator in the room which is great for snacks and leftovers. I have stayed here several times and will go back again.

Three other moms and myself stayed at the Bethesda Court Hotel for 3 nights while we were taking donations to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. This is my 4th year doing this and I wish I would have found this hotel on my previous trips. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The location is fantastic. Not only was in extremely close to Walter Reed, but the Metro was a short walk away & there were lots of restaurants to chose from. The rooms were clean and smelled good. We all thought the beds were extremely comfortable. This will be the hotel that we stay at for all of our future trips to the area.

I got a good deal through Booking.com so I don't know what the average price is. I think this is an older building which is kept clean and relatively up to date. I generally compare hotels against what I have paid in the past and what I expect for this price point. That being said...I think this is an excellent value. The staff was amazing, I love the little courtyard, the breakfast is pretty accomidating. The parking was more than sufficient, the metro is close and there are so many stores, restaurants, and coffee shops within walking distance. I will definitely book here again.
