Another great night at Best Western
Jan 23, 2015 by: Prayingpam from Greenland NH
This is a very nice Best Western and the staff was very friendly. We had a good nights sleep in a comfortable bed. The pillows could have been better and were not as nice as other Best Westerns but we still slept ok. I think they need to update some pillows at least in the room we were in. Maybe if BW Grand Venice sees this review they will check what room we were in and put some new ones in. But that wouldn't stop me from staying there again when we travel through that area. Very nice breakfast and we had a nice conversation with the lady who took care of the room.

This hotel is older, and awkward. This is not an easy to get to location, not right off the interstate. It is right on the edge of downtown, and not in the nicest area. There were renovations going on when I was there, and the place was a mess. The rooms are dark, dank, and smelly. The parking lot is kinda tricky to maneuver and poorly designed. This place is older, not new and not fancy. All of the staff were friendly, though. The price was reasonable. And the building was warm on a frigid day. The chinese buffet across the road was surprisingly tasty and there is an amazing used bookstore in the plaza.
Always a great stay!

I always stay at this Hotel and have never been disappointed;all employees go out of their way to please their Hotel guests. Easy to find, easy to park..very flexible check in hours. Convenient to I270S and Rts. 68 and Rt. 81. You can't beat this Hotel stay !
It was a bed.

Hotel in much need of updating in the bedrooms. The bathroom was ...no other words than..."yucky". Beds were great, but there was a smell of cigarette smoke in the room. Needs updated for sure. Desk chair was falling apart. Staff were great though which made it better.

Stayed here a year ago and deciding to return on December 26, 2014, based on affordability; amenities; location. Rate remains competitive, among the lowest in the Hagerstown area. Interestingly, the online rate actually dropped by several dollars 3 days before check-in vs. online booking done weeks earlier; re-booked at the lower rate and cancelled the more costly reservation. No problems in so doing; nice! Missing this year were the welcoming coffee/tea service in the lobby - "out of cups" the desk clerk explained, apologetically, tho cups were abundant the following morning for breakfast - and the classy holiday decor on each floor at the elevator lobbies. Renovations and painting was happening in the large lobby, resulting in its big Christmas tree shrouded in plastic this year, but clearly management is intent on maintaining this high-rise Best Western. Our room - 391 - possessed a NASTY flickering light in its bathroom that was nausea-producing, literally; a call to the front desk for a re-assignment/upgrade met some hesitancy - the facility was hardly fully booked - and then re-assignment to a comparable room across the hallway where everything worked properly. Self-made waffles "highlight" an otherwise basic Breakfast in a very small room; standing-to-dine should be anticipated during higher-occupancies, we should think. All that said and with online reviews for other nearby lodgings, all factors remaining comparable we'd return for a third stay.
