It's Spring & Time for Wine! (& Beer!)
Mar 27, 2015 by: GwynethJ from Columbia, Maryland
Here's a cute little vineyard only 20 min from Ocean City! From their website: Now open: Friday-Sunday Noon to 6 PM Wine & beer tastings are done throughout the day. Parties of 6 should email a head of time. Wine Tasting $5 for 7-8 wines. Beer Tasting $5 for 5 farm microbrews. My parents & I went to lunch Berlin at the Drummer's Cafe in the Atlantic Hotel for but landed (unfortunately) on a LOUD & CROWDED Jazz in the Street day. Not in the mood for the music or the throngs of people, (sometimes you just feel low key) we looked into what was around that area to visit for a more relaxing activity. Hello Costa Ventosa! Cute tasting room with unconventional and wine related gifts & tchotchkes greeted us as well as the friendly and hospitable employee. The wines were good (a little too fruity and sweet for my tastes) but it was a super fun activity! And at only $5 for 7-8 tastings, why not give em a whirl!? They even offered us to take home the glass, but we have enough wine glasses back at our Bethany Condo & we're trying to avoid the mismatch glass addiction of past wine festival years. But hey, that was generous of them, right? I did really like the Assawoman Bay Chardonnay -- being a middle school teacher librarian of course that name makes me giggle sophomorically & think of who I could gift that wine to for a laugh! I didn't try the beers (never mix grape & grain!) but I thought if I came back with friends I would start with that! Lovely front porch with tables and chairs for a nice sit and sip - a lovely way to spend an hour on a weekend at the beach! Check em out! 4 out of 5 Stars for affordable relaxing fun activity away from the hustle and bustle of the boardwalk! Hey Trip Advisor -- When you ask what sort of visit was this you didn't have Family (without young children grownups only) or Friends as a choice! What's with that? Not all family events include rug rats! Just sayin!
Oh what a night.

Great little winery. . Tastings 8 wines keep the glass - $5.. We were there on a Friday. . They had a young man play guitar and sing.. he was fantastic and it was a wonderful evening.. we took food along, ate on the porch and stayed to enjoy. It was our first visit, we are not locals, but we were made to feel like we were old friends. I greatly recommend. Oh and great wine too, all 8 were great.
A Pleasant Surprise

Costa Ventosa was a pleasant surprise. I never imagined that I would visit a winery in Whaleyville, MD! The tasting room is tastefully decorated and is large enough to host a small party, but not too large where you would feel lost in the crowd. It’s a great place to sit down and enjoy a glass of wine with a friend. They offer a nice selection of wines to include: pinot grigio, chardonnay, and merlot. Having a sweet tooth I really enjoyed the Whaleyville Red. I also liked the Riddle Farm Riesling. Tastings were $5 and included a wine glass. The staff was very friendly and quite personable. If you’re looking to try something different or support local wineries… be sure to visit Costa Ventosa.

Yummy read and white wines! Do a tasting and taste them all!! My fave the WHALEYVILLE Red! The ownership is awesome and all the people are welcoming and kind! Stop in and stay a while local artisans have work inside as well!

Husband and I were in the OC area this weekend and were looking for someplace new to go. I found Costa Ventosa online and decided to stop by. Their winery/tasting room is only about 15-20 minutes outside of Ocean City. The winemaker Kathy was very nice, she even let our two little dogs join us inside for the tasting. Her wine is nicely balanced and tasty. They offer everything from dry to sweet. Our favorite was the sweet Whaleyville Red, in fact, we drank a full bottle that night with cheese and crackers! I am normally very sensitive to red wines but this wine gave me no trouble. I can't wait to go back and buy more on our next trip. Only downside is the tasting fee of $4.59. Normally when we go to vineyards the tasting fee is waived if you end up purchasing some wine. We probably won't do another tasting unless they have something new to try.
