God Created Newport Rhode Island but Lives in Annapolis MD!
Oct 31, 2014 by: James M from East Greenwich, Rhode Island
For a sailor visiting Newport Rhode Island is the Holy Grail - but for access to amenities and to sailing equipment and supplies nothing up north beats Annapolis. The price to moor -with launch service, and history all make this a worth while destination. I stayed 2 miles out of town at the Holiday Inn Express on West Street. Great Value and most helpful staff. Chrissy Foster the manager was most helpful with reservations and reservation mistakes. She helped me cancel an on line non refundable mistake . Thanks to everyone in Annapolis for making my stay enjoyable.

I noticed on two visits a sewer odor lingering over center. You ant even go near pon. Thought that was source but smell is close to movie theater. Shops are nice. Property owner needs to do something.
Great place to walk around

My family and I love going down to the harbor to walk around and look at the water. Weekends can be very busy on a nice day. There is some shopping and restaurants that are worth going to. When we have visitors from out of state we do bring them to the harbor and have had an enjoyable time.

I had a business meeting in the area and dropped my wife and daughter off so they could shop. Very safe, clean and highly attractive area. They were there for 3 hours and we're not ready to leave when I came to pick them up. A number of high end shops. Fully recommend this for shopping.
Great day trip!

Went to Annapolis for the day in mid-July. We visited the Harbor Center area which is simply beautiful. The harbor is gorgeous, very picturesque. We visited the Naval Academy (free!), ate lunch and watched the World Cup Championship at a local tavern, and shopped at several of the many, many, shops along the streets in the town center. I could have strolled and shopped all day. One of my favorite things was riding a pedal-taxi (the 2-passenger bike-powered taxis). It's probably the best, least exhausting, and very affordable ways to see the entire area. Lastly, we visited the Senate House (free!). It's a beautiful, historic, impressive building and tour. A must see. The Annapolis Harbor Center area has gorgeous, New-England-style homes and buildings. An absolutely fabulous day trip!
