The citizens of Maryland have voted to enact the Civil Marriage Protection Act which legalized same sex marriage. As of January 2013, same sex couples have the right to marry in Maryland. Maryland is one of the first states to allow gay marriage through a voter referendum, demonstrating the welcoming nature of the “Free State.” |
