Welcome Centers

One of the few states to staff Welcome Centers with Nationally Certified Travel Counselors by the Travel Industry Association of America, Maryland offers Welcome Centers that are open year-round. All Welcome Centers are handicapped accessible. Welcome Centers are closed on all state and federal holidays.

  • Hours:  9:30 a.m to 4:30 p.m
  • Memorial Day Weekend through mid-October – Thursday through Sunday
  • Open mid-October  to mid-May – Friday through Sunday
  • Serves traffic heading eastbound to the Eastern Shore as well as Washington and points south. 
  • Rest Area open seven days per week, 24 hours a day;

Amenities include rest rooms, picnic tables, vending and scenic overlook of the Youghiogheny River.

  • Serves traffic heading north on US15 via the turnaround past Emmitsburg exit and south from Gettysburg, one mile south of the Pennsylvania line. 
  • Rest area open seven days per week, 9:00 am to 5:00 p.m. north of Emmitsburg, Md. and one mile south of the Pennsylvania line.

Amenities include vending machines, family restrooms, picnic tables and playground area.  Pet area, water fountains and truck, car and RV parking available.

  • The US 13 North Welcome Center is just north of the Virginia state line in Worcester County, Maryland. Approximately four miles south of Pocomoke City, the center is the gateway to Maryland's lower Eastern Shore.

    The new 42,000 square-foot Maryland House features food from Wendy’s, Phillips Seafood, Dunkin’ Donuts, Jerry’s Subs & Pizza, Currito, Nathan’s Famous, Auntie Anne’s and Carvel. The new 5,700 square-foot A Plus convenience store at the Sunoco high-speed fueling station features food from Elevation Burger. The Maryland House also includes the following amenities:

        Contemporary design and natural lighting;
        Additional bus parking and indoor/outdoor seating;
        Free Wi-Fi;
        Modern restroom facilities and equipment;
        LEED certified building with “green” features;
        Staffed Welcome Center; and
        Kids Korner seating area.
